New Release Today by Lila Shaw (My Other Pen Name)

wildwestsuccubus_FINALCOVERI mentioned a while back that I had a new release cooking that might have crossover appeal. Most of you probably know by now that I write under multiple pen names. Lila Shaw is the pen name I use for my saucier tales (erotic romance, erotica and erotic horror) but also for most of my paranormal stories.

Sometimes my stories get handed off from one pen name to the other. Prometheus Unstitched, for example, was a book I wrote fully intending to publish as Claire, but given its paranormal (superhero) nature, I turned the reins over to Lila.

The same cannot be said for Wild West Succubus. That story was always Lila’s and given that the heroine was a succubus would have always remained Lila’s. BUT the longer the story ran, the less steamy it got, to the point to where its heat rating is a level 2 on a scale of 1 (sweet) to 4 (menage, kink, etc). Because of that, I feel confident recommending it to my readers, especially if you like urban fantasy, though 1869 Kansas was hardly urban.

So what’s it about? I rather like my publisher, Liquid Silver Book’s short blurb for the book:

The West has never been so wild! A determined gargoyle is on the hunt, but he didn’t count on falling for the beautiful succubus he was sent to destroy. She’ll never be tamed or broken, but can she be saved?

Here’s the longer one:

A woman damned…

Priscilla Goodnight, a widow in the harsh Kansas frontier, has a cattle ranch to run. She can’t afford to reveal any cracks in her tough exterior or indulge in sexual liaisons with her ranch hands. But a hungry succubus can only exercise so much self-restraint, making discretion, disguise, and memory-wiping her top managerial skills.

The mysterious stranger who knows her darkest secret…

Priscilla doesn’t remember hiring the man with the wily smile and the flannel voice. At all. Men as physically appealing as Hugo Desmond rarely escape her bed, let alone her memory. And how is he able to move so fast, yet nobody notices but her?

Is she his target, his mission, or his bait?

Hugo is a gargoyle—a specially-trained executioner—sent to purge the west of evil. With succubi falling squarely in demon territory, Priscilla has every reason to fear him…yet she can’t stay away. Hugo says he needs her help and wants to save her soul. But is redemption possible for a woman as wicked as Priscilla, or will love thaw her heart just enough for Hugo to crush it?

And if you’re a more visual / auditory person, here’s the book trailer I made Saturday night:

Yes, that’s my old voice you hear on the tinny sounding voiceover. LOL I needed free economically-priced talent to go with the free (attribution only) music and the public domain photos in it.

I hope you’ll consider adding it to your “to be read” pile!

The MIA Author Pops in Again with Some News

It kills me to see the declining frequency of my blog posts of late. I’ve had a lot going on, really, but readers of this blog don’t always know or care about what my other me’s (ie other pen names for other target audiences) are up to. But sometimes my me’s overlap. Sometimes life gets hectic. Both of these have been true.

When you last visited me, other than to read about the latest issue of BTS Book Reviews (which is looking sooo good, do check it out from the link in my sidebar), I was bitching and moaning about all I was worried about. Well, many of those worries are still very present but a newer one popped up that I’ve been quiet about on this blog.

I lost my father on July 14th after a 3 week hospitalization. I’ll not go about it here—I did that on Lila’s blog—other than to say it’s a huge reason why I’ve been quiet lately.

The other reason is because I’ve been working very diligently on the final stages of a new book, a novella, that I’ll be releasing as Lila Shaw. I mention it because I think you may also like it. Though it’s a western / historical / urban fantasy (haha…take your pick; it’s all of these) and stars a succubus, Priscilla is not your typical slobbering, thinly-veiled porn star of some erotic works.

I don’t say this glibly, but I understand there’s a fine line in many readers’ eyes between erotica and porn, and that’s why I typically write the more questionable stories under the pen name of Lila Shaw. Not that my stories are all that “sweet”.

Priscilla’s story is less about the sex and more about the urban fantasy, and for that reason, I’m recommending it here too.

No cover yet, but soon. Release date for Wild West Succubus is August 19th. I’ll share the cover and blurb together very soon.

I’ve also been marketing my YA book, which is very sweet, Louder Than Words—entering contests, querying agents and publishers, as well as insinuating one of my other WIP’s, My Fair Vampire, into the occasional contest. Editing for His Acadian Lady, which I think you’ll enjoy as a character-driven story, continues as I have time. I’ve also started co-writing a serial with a friend that I’m super-excited about. We hope to release it during the Thanksgiving / Christmas window as a special reader treat. More on that in the months ahead!

In the meantime, I thought I’d point out that my latest book, Purely Relative is still FREE if you purchase from Smashwords and use the coupon code (click link and scroll down to where bookseller links are located). It’s 99 cents at all the other sites.

Cheers, my friends!
