ROW80-2, wk 6, rpt 2

This was another week of single-minded pursuit of wordage on the Young Adult novel with barely any attention to my other goals.  I managed a little over 8000 words, with the help of several sessions of Write or Die.

I did xfer my 2 beta reads to my Kindle and cleared the path to work on those by finishing up the novel I’d been reading.  The Kindle is not as conducive for writing critique points, but it’s a godsend for doing the reading part.  I resisted the Kindle method for too long and finally capitulated.

My cumulative stats are updated on my ROW80-2 page.

Linky for the other ROW80 participants is up and ready for you to share the encouragement with my peers.  Thanks for the read!

  1. well done on single mindness – what is the kindle method do you mean you send your work to your machine for yourself to read or for your beta readers to read?
all the best for coming week and keep smiling

    • Thanks, Alberta!

I’m strictly referring to my beta reads of other author’s manuscripts. I have 2 I’ve promised to do. It’s a faster read on the Kindle (cause I can walk on my treadmill and read at the same time) but it’s a bitch to annotate or take notes via another method.

    • You’re exactly right. It’s my reads of others’ works.

I’ve found betas at my writing sites–Absolute Write and Scribophile. Most are folks who have critiqued sections of it when I posted a few chapters on those sites. If they seemed amenable, I asked or I critiqued their stuff and they asked me to do a trade. At least one I “advertised” for at Absolute Write and she’s stuck with me, bless her heart, ever since we did our first swap. If non writers express an interest in reading my WIP, I’ll ship them off a copy but I don’t set any expectations of hearing back. If I do, great, if not, I’m not let down.
