A bit more balanced week so far between writing and critiquing thanks to a 8000 word short I critiqued for a pal and Operation Kindle Beta.

The writing is going great.  I wrote a YA romance scene that fizzled because the heroine rebelled at too much too soon.  It was like trying to force the wrong ends of two magnets together.  So, I ended up deferring the clench (cause I save everything) and rewrote a new bit that was so much smarter, plot-wise.  It also provided a nice new theme to carry the plot to a more satisfying conclusion where I will be able to recycle the kissy bits.  I swear, my fingers, when left to their own devices, are better at this than I am.

Sounds like a Stephen King novel, eh?  Woman author wakes up each morning to find fantastic new pages to a novel.  She has little memory of writing it, yet it’s always in her handwriting.  The book is a smashing success BUT…there is always a price to pay.  Fifteen minutes of dizzying, breathtaking fame followed by a lifetime of obscurity because no one but her remembers the book or who she is/was.   Ha ha!!  You read it here first.

This was another week of single-minded pursuit of wordage on the Young Adult novel with barely any attention to my other goals.  I managed a little over 8000 words, with the help of several sessions of Write or Die.

I did xfer my 2 beta reads to my Kindle and cleared the path to work on those by finishing up the novel I’d been reading.  The Kindle is not as conducive for writing critique points, but it’s a godsend for doing the reading part.  I resisted the Kindle method for too long and finally capitulated.
