ROW80-3 Wk 3, rpt 2

After an all out push on Saturday, I’m thrilled to report that draft 1 of my superhero novella is complete. Now to finish editing, write the synopsis, get a couple of betas through it and submit.

No editing of the other two manuscripts this week, though I finally checked off one outstanding beta read.  One more to go.  Those aren’t goals this round, more like carryovers from ROW80 round 2, to my eternal shame.

Got one short story rejection (which I expected) but promptly put my story back out there by subbing to another publisher.  I actually think it is a better fit with this second publisher.  We’ll see.  Their rejection rate is fairly high too, but nothing like the one I subbed to last weekend.  Technically it’s still being evaluated by the small indie publisher I originally wrote it for way back in March.  After waiting nearly 100 days longer than what that publisher advertised on Duotrope and minimal communication as to progress, I thought it was time to move on.  I logged it as a “no response” in my tracker, which is very disappointing.  One of my writing groups colleagues did finally get a rejection a couple of days ago. She let them know she would not be submitting to them ever again.  Sad and definitely a lose-lose there because she’s a super-duper talented, multi-published author with her debut novel coming out in a few months.  Another one from my writing group withdrew her piece.  //heavy sigh//  The quest to publication can be so tiresome sometimes.

My cumulative statistics are on my ROW80-3 page.

The Linky site lists other participants’ progress reports.  Give them some encouragement too.

Draft One of “Prometheus Unstitched” is finished!

Go me, go me, go me!!  I added my two favorite words, “the” and “end” to my superhero romance novella this evening.  26,300 words makes it just right for the targeted publisher’s 25k to 30k word range.  With editing, it’ll expand and contract up to a 1000 words or so.

I wrapped up the evening by checking my email to discover I’d won a free book.  As I tweeted earlier, it was a great day to be me today.

Tomorrow, being me can suck again as I tackle the synopsis of said finished novella.
